All organizations require managers to plan, organize, lead, and evaluate the organization's effectiveness. Businesses need individuals who can manage resources, identify and solve problems, work with others, understand markets, collect and analyze data, and evaluate organizational performance.

This program prepares graduates for management positions in corporations, small businesses, and other organizations. It provides a well-rounded education in business operations, preparing individuals for a variety of management positions in business and government.

After completing the program, graduates will:

  • Develop analytical and critical-thinking skills used in business environments.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in personal and business communication.
  • Effectively manage human relations and diversity in professional and business environments.
  • Apply global multidisciplinary concepts in business and industry.
  • Be skillful in the use of technology and computer software applications in business and industry.
  • Apply ethical and environmental values to general business principles and practices.

Management Minor

A minor in management introduces students to current business theories and practices and provides a basic business knowledge foundation. It also increases the marketability of students interested in business in all types of professions, from agriculture and natural sciences to information technology.

With a management minor, graduates will:

  • Have an understanding of the management roles of planning, leading, organizing, and controlling.
  • Develop analytical and critical-thinking skills with direct application to management.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in personal and business communication.
  • Effectively manage human relations and diversity in professional and business environments.
  • Be skillful in the use of technology and computer applications in business and industry.
  • Apply ethical and environmental values to business management principles and practices.

Program Description

  • This program provides graduates with experience in marketing, management, communications, and current technology.
  • Gain a solid foundation in business that prepares you for the many opportunities and challenges of the new economy and the e-business age.
  • Opportunities to participate in extra-curricular and co-curricular experiences outside of the classroom to enrich the lives of all students with interests in business. 
  • Many management courses are taken in the Alseth-NWSA Business boardroom. This boardroom-style room offers students an exceptional high-tech space to practice the skills they will use in their future careers.
