Think outside the box with a humanities minor
Calling all creatives, critical thinkers, artistic minds, and historians. The humanities minor helps students further understand the importance of diversity and multiculturalism by looking deeper into art, history, literature, philosophy, politics, and theater. These studies will encourage you to think outside the box. You will soon become an asset to your future employer, as a deep knowledge of humanities adds value and enhances the organization you will serve.

Humanities Minor
A minor in humanities allows students to gain a greater understanding of disciplines such as art, history, literature, philosophy, politics, and theater. Students also become aware of the importance and benefits of diversity and multiculturalism.
The humanities minor is intended to complement major programs of study presently offered at U of M Crookston. A minor in humanities helps students broaden and balance their chosen majors with skills such as creative thinking and expression. The minor enables students to recognize opportunities, think creatively, assemble resources, and plan and implement new initiatives in various employment settings.
As graduates secure employment or start ventures of their own, they will demonstrate how an awareness of the humanities adds value and enhances the results for the organizations they serve. Studying in the humanities encourages students to think outside of the box and creatively, skills that are highly desirable to employers.
After completing the program, graduates will:
- Demonstrate awareness of the scope and variety of works in the arts and humanities.
- Expand knowledge of the human condition and cultures, especially concerning behavior, ideas, and values expressed in works of human imagination and thought.
- Understand those works as expressions of individual and human values within a historical and social context.
- Respond critically to works in the arts and humanities.
- Engage in the creative process.
- Articulate an informed personal reaction to works in the arts and humanities.
