Original "Laptop U" since 1993
The University of Minnesota Crookston has been issuing laptops to all on-campus, degree-seeking students and faculty since 1993. It is widely recognized as the first four-year institution in the nation to implement a campus-wide “Laptop U” strategy. The Laptop Computer Program provides essential tools to students and faculty and continues to be an attraction for learners and educators who value the innumerous advantages that arise from integrating technology into higher learning. Specifically, students and faculty all receive the same, standardized model laptop. This enhances multiple facets of university operations: diverse student-to-student communication is encouraged, faculty-to-student interactions become more precise, and the support process is streamlined.
