We’ve had reports of the new Lenovo laptops screen going black or flickering black. We feel this is due to drivers being out of date. The laptops were imaged in the factory back in early June so drivers are now over two months old. Please take some time (even if you haven’t had issues) to update the drivers. Here’s how:
- Plug your laptop into power (very important step)
- Start an app called Lenovo Commercial Vantage
- Click on “Check for updates”
- Once all the updates have completed you should restart the laptop
Additionally, if your computer ever gets stuck with a black screen, there is a small “pin hole” on the bottom. You can poke a pin, tack, etc. in that hole and it will reset (shut off) the laptop. Then run the lenovo updates. (updated 8/27/2025)
