Working on Your Writing

The Writing Center serves the UMN Crookston community through consultations on different writing genres, discipines, and strategies. Writing Center Consultants work not only with students in COMM, COMP, ENGL, and WRIT courses but also on writing-intensive assignments from other programs. We consult on both academic and professional writing, including but not limited to:

• Research essays.
• Literary analysis essays.
• Creative writing.
• Rhetorical analysis essays.
• Application/cover letters for jobs.
• Statements of purpose for graduate school applications.
• Resumes.
• Speeches and longform presentations.
• Business and technical communication (emails, memos, reports, etc.).
• Assignment prompt explanations. 

We can work with you at any stage in the process, whether it is brainstorming, outlining, researching, revising, or final proofing. Consultants can also focus their attention on areas of need like citation styles, consistent grammar concerns, thesis statements, and instructor feedback.
