Biography

  • Ken Myers is an Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota Crookston in management and has also served as a Department Chair and campus Registrar.  His area of expertise lies in the management of hotels, restaurants, resorts, hospitals, and culinary production. He has written multiple peer reviewed journal publications, textbook chapters and has presented at regional, national, and international conferences. Ken held a joint appointment with the University of Minnesota Tourism Center.

    Ken’s hospitality industry experience is varied including management of a French restaurant, and Radisson Hotels. He was a partner in the ownership of a full-service hotel.  Ken has served as an expert witness in over 24 legal cases.

    Ken’s consulting company, Sweet Harmony, has provided feasibility studies, breakeven analysis, marketing, menu analysis, service training, product development, layout & design, and catering of special gourmet events.

    Ken is the recipient of the University of Minnesota Technology Enhanced Learning Innovation Award, Best Implementer of Technology Award, the U of M Crookston Distinguished Teaching Award, the U of M Crookston Outstanding Services to Students with Disabilities, and the Collegians' Outstanding Educator award. He was recognized by the Governor of South Dakota and the Department of Education and Cultural Affairs for 15 years of dedicated instruction to the South Dakota Summer Food Service Certification School.
