Forsberg Watercolor Paintings
LaVonne Forsberg, a Thief River Falls, Minn. native, is best known for her watercolor paintings and stained glass work. In March 2006, Forsberg was a featured local artisan at the inauguration of the fourth chancellor of the University of Minnesota Crookston. Here, she was commissioned to paint three watercolor paintings depicting the newly renovated Sargeant Student Center, Kiehle Building, and the Harris A. Peterson Gazebo. Forsberg was awarded the 2022 Northwest Minnesota Star Artist of the Year.
Peterson Gazebo
This painting features the Harris A. Peterson Gazebo during Christmastime with snow covering the gazebo, trees, and ground. The gazebo is decorated with festive green garland and red bows. Above the gazebo, the American flag blows to the left in the wind, with a dark blue sky with traces of yellow.
Northern Lights Over the Student Center
This painting features the Sargeant Student Center at nighttime during the summer with flower beds surrounding the sidewalks leading up to the building. In the night sky above are the Northern Lights colored blue, green, pink, and violet.
Kiehle
This painting features the Kiehle Building in the summertime, with blue skies overhead and greenery surrounding the building.
