Golden Eagle Statue

Golden Eagle Statue outside of Sargeant Student Center

Flying over the prairie garden, the Golden Eagle Statue is located by the south entrance of the University of Minnesota Crookston’s Student Center. Artist Bennett Brien, from Belcourt, North Dakota, was commissioned to construct the art piece symbolizing U of M Crookston’s mascot, Regal the Golden Eagle. The sculpture stands nearly 11 feet tall. Starting at the base of the statue, Brien hoped to capture the essence of the smoking pipes, and the lines coming up into the air symbolize the smoke rising up and the importance of praying with the pipes. Finally, the eagle soaring high indicates the communication with the great spirits.
