Charles Beck Woodcut Prints
A collection of 17 (five in Kiehle Building and 12 in Owen Hall) woodcut prints depicting landscape scenes by regional artist Charles Nelson Beck. Charles Beck was born in Fergus Falls in 1923 and enrolled at the University of Minnesota in 1953. It was through classes at the U of M that Beck was introduced to his signature art style of woodblock painting. In this process, he would carve the details of the art on a woodblock in reserve, then coat the wood in ink. If another color was needed, it required a new woodcut block.
