Campus Mall Landscaping

Maroon and Gold tulips growing on the Campus Mall during the summer

Every year, the University of Minnesota Crookston campus gardeners, buildings, and grounds crews plan and maintain the Campus Mall (and surrounding areas) landscaping. New themes and displays are showcased and the colors and varieties of plants and flowers are chosen annually.

In total, on campus, there are 30 different varieties of perennials and some of those can be found along the Campus Mall. There are even trees with edible fruit including a tart cherry tree and crabapple tree.

In 2024, approximately 6,500 flowers were planted on campus with 24 varieties displayed. Some of the varieties on the Campus Mall included white feather grass, sweet potato vine, silver falls dichondra, coleus, petunia, marigold, and canna.
