Bob Bergland Painting

Art & Gardens Crookston Campus Logo

This painting by Herschel Lysaker features Bob Bergland, former United States Secretary of Agriculture and University of Minnesota Regents Emeritus. Bergland Laboratory on campus, named after Bob, is the result of a collaborative effort among U of M Crookston, the Northwest Research and Outreach Center (NWROC), and the Agricultural Utilization Research Institute (AURI). The building serves as a center for teaching, for applied student lab experiences, and for research in the agronomic, botanical, and horticultural sciences.

In the painting, Bergland is shown wearing a suit and tie in front of a field of different crops, with a capitol building in the background, and buildings like barns and a church. Behind Bergland’s left shoulder is a collection of potted flowers and a man and a woman looking into a microscope.
