Welcome to the University of Minnesota Crookston! We are proud to have you join our community of scholars, and are excited about the knowledge and energy you bring to our campus.

This website is part of our New Faculty Onboarding program, designed to help you become acquainted with our campus and our culture, as well as the nuts-and-bolts of policy, procedure and everyday responsibilities. By introducing various topics in different ways and throughout your first year here, we hope to avoid the stress of information overload and give you the time to absorb the information you’ll need to excel at your job.

To get you started, we’ve put together information (mostly in the form of helpful links and websites) that you can peruse at your convenience in the weeks prior to your arrival on campus. You may want to bookmark some of these websites for future reference, but you are always able to return to this website and access the information.

Student Success

Student Success Center (SSC)
The SSC supports the holistic development of students as they navigate their college experience. They also provide the programs and services below.
- Academic Advising
  UMN Crookston places a high priority on quality academic advising. Every degree seeking student is assigned a faculty professional and/or academic advisor.
- Academic Care Team
  The Academic Care Team provides additional communication and support for students who are academically at-risk. Academic Care Team Referral
- Other programs and resources under the Student Success Center include the Golden Eagle Academic Recovery Program (GEAR), 1st Year Peer Mentors, Tutoring, and the Writing Center.

Faculty Assembly
All full-time faculty are members of Faculty Assembly. Faculty Assembly Committee information
Curriculum Committee (see Committee Information section)
Curriculum Committee is a sub committee within Faculty Assembly. This committee examines and reviews the curriculum, its processes, and programs for possibility of improvement as well as curriculum change proposals.

Resources to Support Teaching

Drafting Your Syllabi
The University of Minnesota has certain policies governing the content of the syllabus.
- You can access these policies from the syllabus template form.
- When developing your classes and syllabi, please keep in mind UMN Crookston’s Core Competencies.
- You are strongly encouraged to make a clear statement in your syllabus about your expectations when it comes to AI. Find AI statements here: GenAI Syllabus Statements
- Completed Syllabi should be uploaded to the Course Syllabus Management System. CSMS
UMN Crookston uses mid-term notifications as a way of informing students of their progress in classes and provides a mechanism for intervention for students who are struggling.
