Get creative with our English program

Do you find yourself correcting the use of there, their, and they’re? So do we, but our English major is a whole lot more than homonyms or catching prepositional phrases. It’s critical thinking, creativity, and interpretation. With an English degree, you can immerse yourself in a world of literature, composition, and rhetoric. You’ll prepare for diverse creative opportunities in professional settings, such as teaching, public relations, journalism, law, publishing, medicine, and the fine arts.

English is a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.

The BS in English prepares students to succeed in a variety of professional organizations and fields. Concepts learned and skills developed through the English major include analysis, problem-solving, research, and written and verbal communication. These skills can be utilized in a wide variety of sectors, such as education, media, business, law, and medicine, as well as careers such as paralegals, newsletter editors, critics, marketing coordinators, proofreaders, researchers, librarians, managers, sales associates, and media analysts.

English graduates will understand and appreciate the English language, develop critical thinking and theoretical application skills through studying and critiquing literature, and gain insight into the importance of diversity.
