Have you dreamt of athletic fields and stadiums, golf courses, and picturesque landscapes becoming your future office? Well, you’ve come to the right place. The Golf & Sports Turf Management major prepares you to specialize in golf course supervision, sports turf management, grounds maintenance, sod production, sales, and similar recreation careers. With turfgrass management techniques and personnel relations, graduates of the program are ready for work in the green industry. With over 500 golf courses in the state of Minnesota and over 15,000 golf courses in the U.S., students have access to a variety of internships and excellent job opportunities.

Golf and Sports Turf Management is a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree.

Note: Certificates are intended for non-degree seeking students who have industry experience but want to be certified in Turfgrass Management. Minors are for degree-seeking students who are majoring in related fields who want to add Turfgrass Management to their skillset.

At the U of M Crookston, you won’t spend all your time behind a desk. Our curriculum is designed around experiential learning, which means we want you to have as much hands-on learning as possible. Depending on your major, you’ll find opportunities to be in the field, the lab, the classroom, or engaging in simulated scenarios that give you a competitive edge when you enter the workforce or head to grad school. You’ll learn the concepts and then actively apply them through projects, field trips, site visits, internships, and interactions with professionals in the field.
