About Me...
I am dedicated to supporting students as they navigate the complexities of university life and life in general. As a proud alum of the University of Minnesota Crookston, I returned to my alma mater in 2021 after earning my Master’s degree from the University of North Dakota and spending eight years serving students at their counseling center.
A Balanced Approach to Campus Wellness
As Director of Counseling Services, my mission is to balance individual clinical support with proactive, preventative initiatives across campus. My goal is to help students center themselves in holistic well-being, both individually and as a community. I believe this is achieved by building a foundation of self-compassion and resilience, allowing students to meet academic and personal challenges with greater balance.
Clinical Specializations
I specialize in trauma treatment and somatic (body-based) approaches, utilizing tools such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). By incorporating somatic awareness, I help students process the physical and emotional aspects of stress, anger, grief, and trauma.
Behavioral Change & Prevention
In addition to mental health counseling, I am a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) with extensive experience in facilitating behavioral change. This expertise informs my leadership in Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Prevention. By drawing on Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help students develop the practical tools needed for healthy, sustainable change.
Accessing Services
I provide counseling services in person and via telemental health for students currently located in Minnesota or North Dakota. All other degree-seeking students can access mental health support through TimelyCare.
