Classes are taught by trained RSVP volunteer instructors and are held twice a week at 29 various sites throughout the region. Classes are free to all participants. Benefits include increased bone density and muscle strength, improved balance, increased flexibility, increased energy and mobility, increased sense of well-being and socialization.  Exercises are adapted for all levels of physical ability, with sitting or standing modifications.

Reading Buddies

AmeriCorps RSVP volunteer working with a child at the school through the Reading Buddies program.

Literacy is the foundation of all learning!

RSVP Reading Buddy volunteers are matched with elementary school students who need a little extra help with their reading skills. Working one-on-one or in groups, Reading Buddy volunteers encourage your learners with prompts and a little TLC.

RSVP Handyman Program

The primary focus of the RSVP Handyman Program is to help seniors, age 60 and older or veterans of any age remain safely and independently in their own home for as long as practicable. RSVP volunteers will provide minor repairs and maintenance jobs, according to their aptitude. The labor is free, but the client pays for all necessary materials.  RSVP has a fund available to help scholarship those on a limited budget.

RSVP Groceries to Go Program

Volunteers will grocery shop for seniors age 60+ who are no longer able to shop on their own. Volunteers may take a client grocery shopping, or pick up and deliver groceries. Volunteers may assist in making out a grocery list, shopping and then putting the groceries away. Not only are the volunteers providing a needed service, but also the gift of time and companionship.

To take action in one or more of these volunteer opportunities or to request a service, please call us at 218-281-8289 or email Linnea Schluessler.
