Bailey Mulcahy is a communication major and volleyball player from Fertile, Minn. Mulcahy is extremely competitive and displays this trait in a range of hobbies including board games, cards, and playing sports such as volleyball, softball, golf, and basketball. She also loves watching movies, her favorite being Field of Dreams.

She chose UMN Crookston as it’s close to home and gave her the opportunity to play collegiate volleyball. Her mother, Renee Mulcahy, is an accountant on campus. Now that she’s attended for herself, her favorite thing is the people. The students, professors, and faculty always seem to have a smile on their face and are very friendly.

Mulcahy’s competitive spirit, argumentative nature, and ability to persuade will likely translate into her future career as a lawyer. She plans to go to law school after graduating and hopes to own her own law firm as a prosecuting attorney.

Relating back to her passion for movies, one of Mulcahy’s favorite quotes comes from Dead Poets Society, “Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.” She likes the sentiment that you should live each day like it’s your last and make every moment count.
