"I chose the University of Minnesota Crookston because it had the programs I wanted while still being close to home. It also has a good variety of majors and minors for someone looking for a friendly small-town experience.

I loved my time at U of M Crookston! I formed lasting friendships with people I met there. The small-campus experience for me was perfect for getting to know people personally, as well as in my own major/field of study. I feel like leadership opportunities stand out more in at smaller campus, which I took advantage of — I loved being involved in in many different activities and clubs, such as music groups, study abroad, sustainability, research, and of course the Horticulture Club (as former club president). It’s pretty hard to be siloed in just one area on this campus.

Currently, I work as a researcher at the Northwest Research and Outreach Center on campus, so that probably shows how at-home I feel here! As part of the department of Soil, Water, and Climate, I research topics relating to nutrient management, water quality, and climate/greenhouse gas emissions."
