The University of Minnesota Crookston athletic teams are well into their winter sports slate for the 2023-24 season. The highlight for the Golden Eagles has been the Minnesota Crookston trap team placing second at the USA College Clay Target League National Championship. Lily Krona (Jr., Bemidji, Minn.) placed second for high gun for varsity females by hitting 97-of-100 targets. Gracie Lunsetter (Jr., Gatzke, Minn.) took third for varsity females, connecting on 96-of-100 targets.

The Minnesota Crookston hockey program is off to a phenomenal start to their season. The Golden Eagles are currently ranked fifth in the ACHA Division II Central Region with a 15-3 (9-3 WCCHA) mark, winning eight of their last games. Anthony Foster (Fr., Warroad, Minn.) leads the WCCHA Midwest Division in scoring with eight goals, and 23 assists. Fox Dodds (Jr., Watford City, N.D.), and Logan Syrup (Jr., Park River, N.D.) are also in the top five in the conference for scoring.

The women’s basketball team is off to their best start since the 2018-19 season with a 5-5 (2-2 NSIC) mark. In addition, first-year Head Coach Natalie Moynihan has the best record of a full-time first-year head coach for Minnesota Crookston since Janna Hjelseth in the 1989-90 season. Emma Miller (So., Albertville, Minn.), the reigning NSIC Freshman of the Year, is top six in scoring, rebounds, and assists in the NSIC.

The men’s basketball team has a 3-6 (0-4 NSIC) mark in Bryan Beamish’s second year as head coach. The Golden Eagles have already surpassed their win total from the 2022-23 season, and have been in all of their games this season. Five of their losses have been by 10 points or less. Blaize Sagna (Jr., London, England) is fifth in scoring in the NSIC.

The equestrian team has been off to a great start under Head Coach Haley Pembroke, in her first season. The Golden Eagle jump seat team has three High Point Team accolades already this season, while the western team has one High Point Team honor and two Reserve High Point Team accolades.
