Alysha Dykhoff, a junior from Wadena, Minn. double majoring in Natural Resources Law Enforcement and Water Resources Management at the University of Minnesota Crookston received a scholarship at the recent annual meeting of the Minnesota Prairie Chicken Society.

The $500 scholarship is an award set up by the Society Board to help support an undergraduate who is majoring in and has completed at least three semesters in wildlife sciences, natural resource management or a closely related field and is a Minnesota resident.  

In announcing the first award recipient, Board Member and Scholarship Committee Chair, Terry Lydell noted, “We are indeed fortunate to have such a highly qualified, outstanding applicant who excels in the classroom as well as completing a variety of paid and volunteer experiences.”

At UMN Crookston, Dykhoff is the founding President of the Archery Club and member of both the Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society and Natural Resources Club. She holds numerous certifications related to natural resources and has been a ready volunteer for many groups and projects since her high school days at Bertha-Hewitt.

Dykhoff has also completed two internships over the past two summers; one for the Conservation Corps of Minnesota and Iowa as an intern for the Soil and Water district in Perham and Wadena Minnesota. Her second internship was for the North Dakota Game and Fish Department as a fisheries seasonal in Dickinson, North Dakota.

Dykhoff’s main career objective is to become a DNR officer/Game Warden in Minnesota, Wisconsin, or North Dakota.
