The University of Minnesota Crookston will feature multiple countries and unique food dishes during their annual International Dinner Series March 3, 17, 24 and 31. The first three events are themed and hosted by U of M Crookston international students, and the final multicultural show takes its guests on “A Journey through Jazz & Culture” with an array of food and student performances.

Tickets are available for each dinner event or a full series ticket is an option. Costs are $30 for adults per dinner, $25 for children under the age of 18 per dinner, or $10 for U of M Crookston students per dinner. Series tickets are $110 for adults, $100 for children under 18, and $40 for U of M Crookston students. The first dinner event will be held Monday, March 3 at 6 p.m. in Bede Ballroom featuring the country of India, hosted by U of M Crookston senior Kavya Singh who is majoring in exercise science. ‘From Masala to Minnesota’ is the theme celebrating the journey of Indian spices (masala) to the bustling energy of Minnesota. On the menu will be garlic butter naan (flatbread), paneer tikka masala (creamy curried dish), and gulab jamun balls (fried dough dessert.)

The second dinner event will be held Monday, March 17 at 6 p.m. in Bede Ballroom featuring the country of Vietnam, hosted by U of M Crookston students Nhi Vu and Anh Tran who are majoring in English and elementary education. ‘The Regions of Vietnam’ is the theme and on the menu will be chicken salad, thịt kho tàu (caramelized pork belly), and chè dỪa dầm (creamy coconut dessert.)

The third dinner event will be held Monday, March 24 at 6 p.m. in Bede Ballroom featuring the country of Bangladesh, hosted by U of M Crookston students Ernesto Rafin and Saimon Shan, who are cousins and majoring in information technology. ‘From Dhaka to your Plate’ is the theme celebrating a night of authentic taste and tradition. On the menu will be chotpoti (pea and potato medley), beef tehari and vegetable biryani, and jorda (sweet rice dessert.)

The dinner series finale multicultural show will be held Monday, March 31 at 6 p.m. in Bede Ballroom featuring U of M Crookston student performances and Thomasina Petrus singing jazz throughout the night. On the menu will be an array of food from Kenya, Ukraine, and Ecuador.
