U of M Crookston Department Head Susan Brorson Nominee for Prestigious ATHENA Award

Susan BrorsonCROOKSTON, Minn., (March 14, 2007) – Professor Susan Brorson, Ph.D., head of the Business Department at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) was one of ten nominees for the 2007 Regional ATHENA Award presented annually by The Chamber Grand Forks/East Grand Forks for business accomplishments, community service and dedication to promoting leadership opportunities for women.

Brorson is a highly respected director, business professor, student advisor, member of numerous campus and U of M committees and community leader. She has worked at UMC for 30 years serving as a role model for young women and consistently championing the role of women through her support and encouragement.

The Regional ATHENA Award was established by The Chamber to encourage the potential of all women as valued members and leaders of the business community. The award recognizes individuals – both women and men – who demonstrate professional excellence, community service and actively assist women in their attainment of leadership and professional excellence. Individuals are nominated for the award by their peers, colleagues and members of the local community.

Brorson and her husband, Bruce, also a faculty member at UMC, have four grown children.
