Local Foods College 2017 launches January 24

The University of Minnesota Extension Regional Sustainable Development Partnerships offer the 6th annual Local Foods College.  This interactive distance learning opportunity supports gardeners and farmers interested in community-based food systems. The webinar series will begin January 24th and is a series of eight sessions, meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays until March 14, 2017.

The webinar format is handy for many participants to access from home or office locations and there are also public sites around the state that offer opportunities to network with neighbors. Topics include disease management in high tunnels, post-harvest handling, raising sheep and poultry, soil health, cottage food law, seed saving and accessing capital for your business.

The Local Foods College is part of a movement to strengthen local and regional food systems. The 2017 Local Foods College is supported by University of Minnesota Extension.  

The Regional Sustainable Development Partnerships leverage University knowledge and seed funding with local talent and resources in four areas: agriculture and food systems, tourism and resilient communities, natural resources, and clean energy.
