Concerts and Lectures is a formal standing committee as designated by Campus Assembly. The purpose of the committee is to promote concerts, cultural activities and the arts for the students of the University of Minnesota Crookston, and the Crookston community.
Concerts and Lectures is a formal standing committee as designated by Campus Assembly. As such the committee is comprised of four non-student members, four student members and the Director of Student Activities. The purpose of the committee is to promote concerts, cultural activities and the arts for the students of the University of Minnesota Crookston, and the Crookston community. The Concerts and Lectures Committee normally meets two to three times a semester to go over funding requests and examine programs it may want to bring in on its own.
Student Ticket Subsidy (STS)
In addition to speakers, the committee also subsidizes tickets to Chester Fritz theatrical performances and Crookston Artist Series tickets. Student Ticket Subsidy is a program funded by the Concerts and Lectures Committee and administered through the Office of Student Activities. The program exists to provide reduced ticket prices to UMC students paying student service fees for arts and cultural experiences.
Additional events may be considered and should be submitted in writing to the Director of Student Activities no less than 10 business days prior to event.

Concerts and Lectures Grant Requests
The Concerts and Lectures Committee provides small grants for partial funding of lectures, events, and activities that take place at the University of Minnesota Crookston. Events that are closed to the public, require an admission fee, or take place outside of campus will not be considered for funding. All submitted grant requests must have an intended audience consisting primarily of undergraduate students. The amount of money available for award varies on an annual basis. Grant amounts typically awarded have ranged from $200-$2,000 with the average award amount equaling less than $1,000.
