The Abbey - Young Alumni Award
The Abbey -Young Alumni Award recognizes the outstanding achievements of recent graduates of the University of Minnesota Crookston. The award highlights the tremendous talents and contributions that young alumni make to their profession, to their community, and to the University. The award is presented during Homecoming.
Award HistoryDuring homecoming in fall 2015, the Office of Development and Alumni Relations presented a young alumni award for the first time in history. The award recognizes the achievement of alumni who have graduated within the past 15 years. The official name of the award is “the Abbey” named after its first recipient: Wemimo Samson Abbey, a 2013 graduate of the University of Minnesota Crookston.

Criteria for selection:
- Individuals who graduated within the past 15 years
- Have distinguished themselves in their professional field and/or volunteer activities
- Reputation of the candidate should reflect favorably on the University of Minnesota Crookston
- No Young Alumni Award will be conferred in absentia or posthumously
Nomination Procedure
Nomination Procedure
- Submit nomination form on or before March 1
- Nominee submits detailed vita/resume listing awards, accomplishments, education, etc.
- Selection by the Office of Development & Alumni Relations
