CALLING ALL GREEN THUMBS FOR OUR HORTICULTURE PROGRAM

Do you have a green thumb or plant passion? The Crookston campus is where you’re surrounded by natural beauty and you can do what you love - meaning, you will be literally “in the weeds” from day one. Whether it is in one of our many greenhouses or the campus gardens you are leaning hands on in many environments. Learn skills such as conservation techniques, landscape restoration, and garden design. All horticulture students are introduced to botany, woody plants, entomology, plant pathology, and soil science. Where gardens, greenhouses, and labs are your classroom… get ready to get your hands dirty!

At the U of M Crookston, you won’t spend all your time behind a desk. Our curriculum is designed around experiential learning, which means we want you to have as much hands-on learning as possible. Depending on your major, you’ll find opportunities to be in the field, the lab, the classroom, or engaging in simulated scenarios that give you a competitive edge when you enter the workforce or head to grad school. You’ll learn the concepts and then actively apply them through projects, field trips, site visits, internships, and interactions with professionals in the field.
